THANK YOU for your commitment to Eucharistic Adoration at Saint Peter Catholic Church. First and foremost, it is a commitment to Our Lord to spend this time in His Presence prayerfully and to GUARD HIM from any harm. Secondly, it is a commitment to Saint Peter Catholic Church and our church community. We thank you for making your commitment to pray a weekly Holy Hour in our Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. We recognize and appreciate your sacrifice of your time to Our Lord. We are confident that you will find your weekly Holy Hour in the Real Presence of Our Lord will become one of THE most important and gratifying hours of your week.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ADORATION:

1. We must remember that we are GUARDIANS, as well as adorers. Jesus is Truly Present in the Blessed Sacrament. He must NEVER be left alone while exposed during hours of adoration.

2. We must remember that the commitment we have each made is an important one. It should be considered and treated as having greater significance than a doctor appointment, business meeting or social commitment. This commitment should not be forgotten or disregarded, or diminished by being late.

3. Arrive sufficiently early to allow time to park and sign the register for a smooth transition to the next hour. PLEASE be sure to sign the register for your Holy Hour of adoration EACH WEEK.

4. While COVID restrictions continue, Chapel capacity is limited to SIX adorers. Please comply with current mask and social distancing requirements.

5. Please maintain an atmosphere of prayerful quiet in the Chapel at all times, refraining from unnecessary conversation and silencing cell phones.

6. NO FOOD OR DRINK is allowed in the Chapel unless medically necessary.

7. Religious and spiritual reading material is available in the Chapel and the adjoining library, or you may bring your own. Please, no secular (work, home, school, etc.) reading materials.

8. Children are welcome in the Chapel! Please be considerate of other adorers by taking fussy or crying children out to the hallway or courtyard for a few minutes to calm them. Age-appropriate books, coloring books, puzzles and other quiet activities are allowed.

REQUIREMENTS FOR SUBSTITUTIONS:

If you cannot fulfill your Holy Hour commitment for a given week, PLEASE proceed with the following protocol in the order presented:

1. Those that share their weekly Adoration commitment with one or more people should call their team member(s) and ensure coverage for their hour. Only one adorer is required.

2. If you do not share your weekly Adoration commitment, or you do and another member of your team cannot attend in your place, PLEASE attempt to cover your commitment by asking a family member, fellow parishioner, neighbor or friend to attend in your place. This is a wonderful opportunity to share the blessings of the devotion of adoration.

3. If steps one and two have not yielded a substitute to cover your Holy Hour, then PLEASE use the Adoration Schedule (https://stpeterkirkwood.weadorehim.com/en) to check with a fellow adjacent adorer to switch times with you or split your hour between them. The adjacent adorer info can be found by going to “My Dashboard” on your “We Adore Him” account. Go to the box that has your commitment hour. At the bottom right hand corner click on the line that says “view other adorers” in blue. This will bring up the names and contact info of the adorers before you and after you.

4. Use the “We Adore Him” sub system to request a sub if you are unable to find someone to cover your Holy hour.

5. As a last resort, if you are unable to find a substitute by following 1 - 4, call:

IN CASE OF “NO SHOW” FOR THE HOUR AFTER YOURS:

If the adorer scheduled for the Holy Hour following yours does not arrive, remember that we are GUARDIANS and Our Lord must NEVER be left alone. Please follow these steps:

1. Wait for the scheduled adorer to arrive. If they do not come, PLEASE STAY until the following adorer arrives.

2. If you cannot stay and another adorer was in the Chapel during your Holy Hour, ask them if they can stay until someone arrives. If they cannot stay until someone arrives or for the full hour, ask if they can stay until you attempt to make alternate arrangements

3. If no one else is in the Chapel or they cannot stay, and either of you has a cell phone, use the schedule (https://stpeterkirkwood.weadorehim.com/en) to call the person listed for the current hour, and the next hour if necessary to see if they are willing to come early to relieve you; leave messages if no answer and wait if possible; if neither of you has a cell phone and someone else is in the Chapel, ask them to wait while you go to use the phone at the rectory or a nearby phone to call the Emergency Contact. If another person in the Chapel cannot wait or you are alone and must leave, call the emergency contact as soon as you can get to a phone.
